Team Obsolete is pleased to announce our 1998 Trans Atlantic Match Race Schedule sponsored by Vanson Leathers, DomiRacer, Megacycle Cams, Roadracing World, Red Line Synthetic Lubricants, Avon Tires, Works Performance, AirTech & R/D Springs. The format is the same as in days of yore and our celebrated event at Daytona last October. Each team is composed of a mix of genuine Formula 750 and 500 Grand Prix machines. Each event has a minimum of two races, with scoring done both individually and by team.
Says T/O boss Rob Iannucci: "We are genuinely thrilled to have succeeded in putting together this schedule. All of these tracks are world class venues and we have a rider and bike roster to match". There will be other "Historic" race classes offered at each event. The prestigious Hailwood Trophy will again be awarded to the high points scorer at each event. Dave Pither won it at Daytona in October 1997, the Brits currently lead 333 to 319 points.

Trans Atlantic Match RacesTM were begun in 1971 as a way of developing a common set of rules for Formula 750 racing in both the U.K. and U.S.A. A challenge series was then run between the two countries, with the U.K. as the sole host. Tradition saw the races usually run over the Easter holidays; great riders such as Dick Mann, Cal Rayborn, Yvon Duhamel and Dave Aldana won races for the U.S. team while John Cooper, Paul Smart, Ray Pickrell, and Barry Sheene defended the crown. At the end of the original series, the USA had six wins to the UK's twelve. The series ended in 1986.
